Botulinum toxin A (Botox®)is a prescription medication that is a biologically produced protein.
By injecting a very fine needle with this neurotoxin, muscle activity in the affected area is reduced.
Muscle spasms in the area of the eyes (crow’s feet), the forehead and the glabella (frown line) can thus be optimally treated.
The corresponding muscle can no longer be tensed as usual, so that the mimic wrinkles are treated causally. The result is a relaxed facial expression.
HOW DOES BOTULINUM TOXIN WORK?

Other nerve functions, such as feeling or touching through the skin, are not affected.
In combination of Botox therapy with biological fillers (Hyaluron), deep, pronounced and more powerful wrinkles can also be treated. In our practice in Zurich Enge, it is important to us to achieve a natural result with Botox treatment without compromising expressiveness.
Animal-free products
For the botulinum toxin of the manufacturing company Allergan we do not use any botulinum toxin that has been tested on animals beforehand. As part of the approval authorization of the manufacturer Allergan for the CBPA test for botulinum toxin type A, animal testing is unnecessary for the botulinum toxin we use in Switzerland.
RESULT OF A WRINKLE TREATMENT WITH BOTULINUM TOXIN
The effect and thus improvement of the treated wrinkles starts after only a few days, the maximum effect, the so-called peakeffect is visible after about 2 weeks. The skin becomes smoother, one looks more relaxed.
The effect wears off after about 4-6 months, so if you are treated with botulinum toxin, it must be repeated at certain time intervals.
The injection can be repeated as often as you wish, but the interval between treatments should be at least 3 months.
Safety and efficacy of more frequent application have not yet been studied and frequent application is therefore not recommended.
SIDE EFFECTS AND RISKS OF THERAPY WITH BOTULINUM TOXIN
Usually, side effects are transient and occur within the first few days after treatment.
The following adverse reactions have been observed after treatment with Vistabel:
INJECTION SITE REACTIONS.
Common (1%-10%):
Local pain/burning/stinging, edema and/or bruising.

Dizziness, nausea, dry mouth, tightness of the skin, sensory deprivation

Eye pain, edema (face, eyelid, periorbital), eyelid inflammation (blepharitis), visual disturbances, photosensitivity
SKIN

Occasional (0.1%-1%): Flu-like signs, general weakness, fever, infection.
PSYCHOLOGY
